It is a wonderful family day out offering a wide range of exhibits from a Victorian art gallery to the Exploring Lost Worlds dinosaur gallery, and if you like a lovely piece of architecture then you should also take a look at the stunning new staircase they have had installed.

Charnwood Museum: An excellent little museum with free entry, the Charnwood Museum is set in the grounds of Queens Park and can be found at Granby St, Loughborough LE11 3DU, UK. Its permanent exhibitions offer a wonderful insight into how Charnwood was shaped so if you are interested in the history of the area this is a great place to visit.

Farms, Parks and Gardens

University of Leicester Botanic Garden: Entry to the garden is free (unless it’s a special event), you will find an extensive selection of plants and as the gardens stem from the universities interest in global biodiversity they stem from a huge variety of areas around the world. The water features, sculptures and seating areas provide a beautiful scenic garden for your pleasure and education. Gorse Hill City Farm: With play areas, a small animal farm and their wildlife garden and pond, this charity offers educational outdoor fun for all ages 365 days a year. It’s located not far from Leicester city centre at Anstey Ln, Leicester LE4 0FJ, UK.
